Default Best 4l60 trans fluid?

Looking to drain and add some fresh transmission fluid, and filter change on 2001 Silverado 5.3 4l60 any suggestions or advice on what to go with? I've heard that Mobile 1 ATF is good? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Run the cheapest Dexron 3 you can find, that is what GM has always suggested. It's not going to be any better than some over priced mobil 1 product that will do the exact same thing.

Most bottles are like 3-4 bucks a quart on sale.

House brand Dex 3. Don't spend much on 4L60E fluid. You'll end up losing it on the road or draining it when you change the trans shortly anyway.

Hahaha ain't that the truth

I run the Prime Dex/Merc brand from SAMs Club. Like $40/ 12qts. I use it in the Tahoe every 20k and the Buick 4T65-HD every 30k

When the Tahoe finally goes 4L80, I dunno what I will run. Prob same **** tbh

I bet you could run tractor hydraulic oil/transmission fluid and it would function just fine lol.

It's red like dexron 3 and it's basically the exact same type of fluid.

There have been a lot of people run John Deere Hyguard hydraulic fluid in the past. I wouldn't be scared of it.

I run the Valvoline Dex/Merc and I get it in the gallon containers for under $14 from either WalMart (where its often out of stock) or occasionally on Amazon Prime.

Honestly any good quality dexron 3 or better rating will be fine, Synthetics do over higher heat capabilities before breaking down so this could be useful if you do a lot of city traffic driving and or have a transbrake where temps can get flashed far higher than you might think in the brief time its applied at WOT,
