Talking Beltech and Torsion bars

Has anyone installed a Beltech drop using their torsion key?

I installed my kit last night on my 06 tahoe and it looks like the front is riding on the bumpstops.

I don't remember seeing anything in the instructions about modifying the bumpstops.

Any ideas?

Thanks Javi05. I am going to ream Beltech for not including everything necessary in what they call a "complete" kit.

Another day in the garage!!!

Yea, as mentioned, you need to cut the bumpstops...you want them just touching the lower control arms with the truck parked on a level surface at rest. The bumpstops are actually figured into the spring rate of the front end. BTW, I have Belltech keys and shackles.

If you don't want to cut your original bump-stop's, you can pick up a shorter set from BellTech: Part #4922. They have a couple of different part numbers as well, though I don't recall the numbers and their corresponding heights.

Rumor is the ride is better going with the shorter stops than just cutting down the originals.

I've heard that also, but I've also head that Mr. P on SilveradoSS.com modded his cut bumpstops by drilling 6 holes in them to soften them up and it improved his ride quality dramatically. I need to do one of these mods, as I'm not completely satisfied with my ride quality since I've lowered my truck. Future plans include spindles and possibly hangers in the rear, but that's years away lol
