Default Auto 4WD issues

New truck owner here. I used to have a JEEP GC with AWD, so I am used tomdriving around in AWD. With my Yukon, I drive in 2WD, but would like to use AUTO 4WD when the weather or terrain isn't dry. The issue I am having is a "stuttering" when I'm in Auto 4WD. When turning and going in Reverse, the Yukon stutters a bit. Kind of feels like a vehicle that is about to stall, but it isn't stalling. I suspect a transfer case issue. Runs smooth in 2WD. Any ideas where I should start looking?

Thanks

Auto 4wd isn't the same as AWD. AWD uses a differential in the transfer case, Autotrak uses a viscous coupler. When you make a speed change in the output shafts by turning the truck, the speed difference on the sides of the clutch pack changes. This in turn heats it up and causes it to lock the output shafts together. This makes the back tires start chirping because they want to spin faster and the front tires skip because they want to turn slower.

Also, if your tires aren't all matched size-wise, you will induce the clutch to lock up because of the speed differences between the front and rear.

Tires are the same size, but I'll double check my air pressure. Thanks for the explanation. I was under the impression that Auto 4WD was a set it and forget it type of thing, but the experience really suffers with it on. I'm not sure when to use it, perhaps in place of 4 HI?
