you are just the person i need to talk to. were the lower 1.5's power limited or traction limited? what tires were you using?

what are the benifits to the 4 link you have now? about how much weight did that set up drop?

i am trying to justify doing a 4 link vs stock style suspension. i am leaning toward keeping stock style suspension for awhile.

The 1.5's were traction limited on 28x12.5 ET streets. When i changed to 4-link it dropped about 150 lbs but I can adjust the suspension for just about anything. The suspension is always a bar change a way from making it hook on the street with drag radials. That is the main difference between stock sus. and 4-link- adjustability.

I also run no bottom (overload) leaf with caltracs. Hooks hard and broke some teeth on my ring gear in my rearend. The thread is in this section if you havent seen it yet.

I know several guys who just pull the overload out. The only drawbacks are a sacrifice in ride quality and less ability to handle a heavy load. It'll drop your rear about an inch too... which could be good or bad.

Im constantly amazed at just how stock alot of your truck is parish and the times is running, this thread exemplifies that. Glad we'll be seeing more of the blue truck that could. I swapped my z71 shocks for stock ones when we had some lying around the shop and noticed a little better traction also.

hhhmmmm who did this mod

I have been running mine with no overloads now for a few months and it has actually made the ride a little smoother (when its not bottoming out) I need a small bolt in notch but the wheel hop is TERRIBLE without any kind of traction bar/aid even on rock hard street tires. Mine jumps all over the road at even 50-60% throttle in 1st gear. I have shackles/hangers/removed overloads and it sits about perfectly level. 2" drop coils in the front. I will be building some anti-wrap bars in Jan to see if I can get it to hook and not hop... I might just say f-it and drop coin on some cal-tracs in the end.

If your worried about bottoming out, get sleeve style helper bags. Mine would bottom out all the time, but with the bags it hasn't come close once at 18psi. And when I go to the track it will be much better not to bottom out and still have some control over the rear height and stiffness too.
Two great things to have control over when set up for racing.......

And if your hauling a big trailer for drag week, you can up the pressure and haul a 9000 lb trailer at proper ride height with no problems. Big plus IMO.

THe only draw back besides weaker suspension to pulling the overload is axle wrap. I did this and ended up getting lakewood slapper bars to help and added the overlaod back in. No more axle wrap.

YOu dont have to worry about axle wrap tho because of hte cal tracks. So I saw do it.
