anyone broke or twisted an outputshaft?

Default anyone broke or twisted an outputshaft?

my buddys trans let loose a couple of weeks ago and the trans shop said that he twisted his output shaft. i guess it is stuck in the trans and they cant get it out. i remember hearing someone breaking theirs but im not sure if anyone else has. so for those that have plese post whats was all dont to the truck when it happened.

There are quite a few people that have twisted/broken their output shaft. 02Denali did it can also be caused by the planetaries failing which seems to be one of the leading cause of output shaft failure. When gets it rebuilt get gm 5pinion planets.

What was he doing when it broke? Im guessig the 1-2 shift?

yup 1-2 shift and it just went and free reved. then once he got it to the trans shop they said that it was stuck in there.

man that is cool. my rear planets-outputshaft-rear drum-and case were all stuck together. the rear of the case was cracked all the way around and the tailhousing was shattered. a 150 shot got to mine.

I snapped my output shaft twice , both times on the 1-2 shift. I had the 5 pinion planetaries as well.

Ouch. What is the build date in your door. I know when we replace sunshells at work there is a bulliten that I think certain build dates get a new output shaft that is susposed be heat treated like the new sunshells.

im not sure, what his is, i will have him look when he does get his truck back. hopfully it will be today.
