I think the iceing on the cake was that I used a Credit card to pay for it so for the next few months following the incedent I was in a bad mood when it came time to pay down the Balance

Well I cracked open the pan today at the shop only to find slightly burnt fluid and some clutch material. No big chunks of my overly expensive trans so I was thrilled...as thrilled as a guy can be with my recent luck. Good news is it will be out of the truck tomorrow afternoon and I'll finish my parts list (or start it for that matter). I've been looking for some proven setups and i'm struggling but I'm going to get "the" rebuild book everyone raves about. Alto seems to have a quality product but i'm in over my head until i get everything torn down. I'll be starting a rebuild thread with pictures and such in the next few days.. thanks for tuning in. also I've decided having a blue driveway might be kind of fun! lol sorry brick

I yanked the tranny today to find the converter completely dry.....is this normal? other than that, the fluid was burnt and I had some clutch/band material but nothing big in the pan or filter.

Thats a good question... I wish I had an answer for that. Hopefully some one with some more Internal Transmission knowledge will chime in....

Update: trans is apart. The pump destroyed itself and crack/mauled the case. So now I'm in the market for a new case and pump at least. the band wasent that bad, it must of shut down just in time to keep things intact (soft parts) Does anyone know if I can get a new or rebuild case only from gm?

Ebay or Your Local wrecking / Auto Salvage Yard. Might want to try Graigs list for your area too! Maybe a local trans supply place can get you a good Used Case.

Here are 2 on ebay right now. First one is the best deal w/ free shipping
