another 4L60E kill...in the DD

Project update... A limb from my neighbors tree fell on my driverside bedside and creased the crap out of it (looks terrible). Then while towing my truck down to school this afternoon, inclimate weather cause me to jack knife and smashed my pulling truck's rear bumper into my truck's front bumper taking out the grill and fenders and at the same time tearing off my brand new tahoe valence! SO now it looks aweful and still doesnt move. On the upside, tomorrow I'll be opening up the trans to see what carnage I have.

Ouch! That sucks... Well If it makes you feel any better at all Today is My only Day off and it didn't go any smother... I was working on my new repacement motor and I had the bright Idea to remove the Piston and rods so I could Install new rod bolts and double check the clearances. I pinched the Oil rings trying to reinstall my new pistons. I didn't see the piston ring holder had sliped upwards when I tried to push it in.
Go figure, Another day off waisted... the last 2 sundays were weather related... before that I was waiting one some parts...

haha ya it was a rough weekend for my truck and I. I figure once the weather here in kansas stabilizes and I can get some consistant 70* days in, I'll quit whining and get to work. I had a bit of trouble getting my pistons in as well but i blamed the extremely crappy compressor I was using.

Only have my self to blame for mine.I called my engine shop and he said "Oh that happens all the time don't worry about... I will see if I can get you just the oil ring supports. If not worse case is you buy a ring set for one piston, No big deal. Only thing is it come straight from the manufacture not one of there near by stocking warehouse so it might be a few days..."
That was the good news. I will find out tommorow what he was able to get.
As far my tranny goes at least for my truck I was able to pick up a used core from a roll over that a guy was parting out. Said it worked fine, they lot drove it before scraping the cab. Its a GM Reman so I will have to crack it open and see whats in it. The truck was an 01. I am not sure when the reman was installed but it should have all the good 65E parts in it.
I have a good story about the paint for my truck that will make you feel better...
I bought 2 Gallons of Indigo metallic blue Of a very high end paint Line. The price of the Base Coat alone would make most people sick
But Its my truck so I dont mind shelling out for the good stuff. Any way I took it out my truck and set it on the ground. I got distracted and then had to move my truck for what ever reason. I crancked the whell to one side an was tying to back up but for some reason it wouldn't go far... Guess Why???
Now my drive way looks like I ran over a group of smurfs and if that wasnt irattaing enough, its all over the tire and rim as a constant reminder.
funny is the peeling clear coat no longer bothers me... But the piston slap in the mornning is on my Last nerv and I want to hurry up and install the new engine so i dont have to listen to it and gain a little more performance too!
