Default Another 4l60e goes bang *&*&^()

Well, I was leaving the house yesterday morning (gently)and on the 1-2 shift it stopped pulling. Made it to the side of the road (still in sight of my house) called the wife and had her pull me backwards to the house, it was locked up when trying to pull it backwards, it went that way anyway courtesy of the suburban So I am trying to decide what to do now. I would really like to do the 80 swap but my truck is my dd and will never make over 400 hp so I cannot justify it. So is there anyone in the central ky area that can do a fairly stock rebuild with maybe a few upgrades? It already has a transgo shift kit and corvette servo so maybe just to fix the broken parts and freshen it up. Are these any harder to rebuild than a t350? I have done a couple of those and I am thinking about tackling this one, if I can't find someone local, cheap and reliable. I have been researching this for the last couple of minutes and I have almost convinced myself to try it, I plan on pulling it tomorrow to see what is broken. Any thoughts or advice let me know, I had been thinking about putting a converter in it so that is definitely going to happen while it is out

if youve already worked on a few trannys before i would go for it. i never messed with a tranny at all before until my radiator blew and put antifreeze in my trans and i had to have it redone, so being a college student and living alone and driving 90 miles a day back and forth to work i decided to rebuild mine. took my time, took tons of pics of each step, measured everything to make sure it all went back to the correct spot. and havent had a prob since and i run my truck at the track and make 6k rpm pulls atleast every 2-3 times out when driving. just make sure to look over everything and if you think it needs replaced, replace it. i'd up to the beast sunshell and of course better clutches and clutch band . oregon performance transmissions is a good place to get parts from

Well, I got it apart tonight and it was the output shaft. So now I need to decide if I am going to put it back together with some upgrades or try to find one locally or bite the bullet and buy an flt. I have some decisions to make and begging of the wife to do. I would like to buy a nice flt and never worry about it again but convincing my wife that it is money well spent may be tough to do, anybody else have any suggestions? Thanks

Ray one thing to think about is when the output shaft breaks it does tear up some stuff on the inside of the trans. The damage will be more than just the shaft is what I'm saying here. Also take a close look at the back of the case where the extension housing bolts to the main case. In some cases the aluminum housing will crack back there. I would recommend getting a unit with a billet output shaft if I was in your shoes. This way you will not have this type of failure again. Please take a look at our sales thread for the month of September. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Thanks for your time. Vince

The prices on our website do NOT include core charges. With the prices listed we need a rebuildable core in return.
