another 4l60e down! R.I.P 4l80e swap questings
UPDATE #4 (10/29/17) Swap completed! just wanted to say thanks for the help every one! put about 30 miles on
UPDATE #3 (10/24/17)can any one tell me the best way to mod my cooler lines? compression fittings? AN fittings? the size of the stock 4l60e line size?
i have tools to flare for AN fittings if i can get some in the right size? or compression to hose barb?
UPDATE #2 (10/22/17)
I have the raised crossmember with the raised single trans mount bolt can i just add angle iron to the rear of it or will the trans pan not clear? "if" it needs to be cut and center moved how far back does it need to be moved?
this is the crossmember i have
pics from 06sierra5.3 old post (thanks)
UPDATE: i picked up a 2009 4L80e 34k miles, slip yoke and have a flex plate on hand with out the spacer
need to confirm if i need the flex plate spacer also if i do what bolts are used with the spacer if i do need it?
well last night while i was on the highway 4th started to slip then as i drove trying to make it home it got worst had to drive home in 3rd rest of the way since i lost 4th still drives 1st 2nd & 3rd
i have a 6.2 that im going to swap in down the road so i figured just swap to a 4l80e now and be done with it
i know i need
80e flexplate
speed sensor harness to add in the pcm
move some wires around in the trans plug
mod my trans cross member
have my drive shaft shorten or have one made
4l80e yoke
not sure about a couple things
my truck is an 2004 2wd 1/2 ton what year transmissions work?
i have HP tunes (total noob with it) how intense is it to setup the 80e in the pcm?
will my 60e dipstick work or do i need one from a 80e?
will my stock trans cooler lines plug into the 80e?
do i need the flexplate spacer?
will my shift cable stuff and park neutral safety switch bolt up or will i have to?
if there is something i have not mentioned please let me know?
thanks

Basically any year 4l80e will work assuming its a 2wd obviously.
All you are doing is a segment swap in HP tuners, there are quite a few write ups of it online, but very simple.
You will need a 4l80e dipstick from a pickup, ie 2500hd
Your lines will need to be modded, since the spacing between the plugs on the trans are different. So you habe 3 options, 1-mod your stock ones, 2- get lines from a 2004 1500hd with a 4l80e, 3- make your own lines using braided line, i also recommend doing the tru cool upgrrade while your at it.
Im not exactly sure on your shift cable and neitral safety switch, but on my denali (awd)they bolted up perfect, no mods needed
