Default air assist for the rear only

Air suspension is a new area for me so I'm in need of some help.

I just installed the McGaughy's drop on my SS and I want to get some bags out back to keep the rear level if I ever put a load in the bed. Whats a good reasonably priced kit for light duty use... I don't use this truck to tow or anything so I'm thinking a small compressor should do the trick.... any help is appreciated.

I think there is a compnay called air extreme or something that has a air over leaf setup. If i remember its like 150 bucks? or something like that. But then you have to buy a compressor too. I would say it will cost around 400 for the load assist bags to get it complete. Check summit or stylin concepts.

a company called air-lift makes an "air-over-leaf" kit for trucks that have been lowered. those other kits you see on ebay all the time wont work for a vehicle that has been dropped(bags are too big). i know summit racing sells them for like 175 or something like that. you can check out air-lift on the net for more info.

How was the rear lowered? Shackles and hangers? If so, the slam air helper bag system wasn't designed to work with these components...I believe they are designed to work with either a flip kit or a stock truck. Air Ride Technologies, Air Lift, and Firestone all make helper bags for the back that sound like what you are looking for though.

I used Shackles and hangers to lower the back of mine 4 inchs and the slam air helper bag system works great. Perfect fit

Air Lift - Slam Air

Air Lift at Jegs

I have Air Ride Helper Bags on my 1500Hd with a McGaughys' 3/5 drop but I don't think they make stuff in general for lower vehicles. They just fit and gave me 4200 lb helper capacity. Air Ride . I got them because McGaughys' recommended them. If you call them they will tell you what they can do for you. I did not bother with a compressor just fill them by hand. They levelled out the rear of my truck side to side and I put a separate air supply to each and they act a bit like a sway bar. If you put a common air source they will wallow side to side as the weight changes and the air flows from side to side.

Worked great for me a keeps the truck from banging the axle on really sharp bumps.

I got some good info fromFullSizeChevy in the Street forum.
