Default 99 Sierra 1500 5.3 4l60e problems

my truck has a little over 172,000 miles. i have been getting what seem to me like its holding first gear a little longer then it should. lets say i start the truck and try to drive off, it will hold 1st gear for a good while, once i have been driving for a bit, say about 2-3 min will shift fine and will not have any more problems with it at all. now if i sit and let the truck warm up before i drive off it will shift fine with no problems or slipping, i had it at a shop (non trans shop) they hooked it up to a scanner and took it for a drive im not sure how long they let it sit before driving it, but the scanner tested and showed everything was good and working electronically. it seems if the truck sites for more then 5 or so hours is when i encounter the problem. i really don't have the money to take it to a trans shop. anyone ever encounter this issue before?

Sounds like normal function. The ecu is programed to shift differently at different temperatures.

5 hours is suffeciant for it to cool all the way back down. This is why you see he difference.

Seems normal. Assuming fluid level is full/clean?

I have one. My shifts were firmed up. On top of it I then took our about 60% torque management retuning. It was even better then. Going into power enrichment sooner then also allowed the truck to decide to shift sooner. Then I added timing and leaned things out a tad. She's still a porker but now is far more fun to drive.

My experience has always been opposite, shifts better with cold fluid, aseveruthing warms up if theres an issue thats when it starts showing up.... Is trans original, or been replaced at some point???
