Default 97 gmc 5.0 nv3500 swap to 700r4

i am wanting to swap my nv3500 for a 700r4.Ii was told it would work but i need to know about hooking up the tv cable to the 700r4. If its not possible, what would it take to put in a 4l60e?

I'd be looking for a 4L80 if I was in the market of putting an auto in an older truck. It'll be a similar swap. May require a manual valve body if you're not wanting to go to an electronic trans. If there is a way to make a 4L60E work you can put an 80 in its place.

I was told if I went with a 4 L 60 or 80 e that I would have to change the wiring harness and the ECM that's why I didn't go that way. But but I found a way to bring the cable from the rear not the front just like the accelerator cable and actually hook it to the cruise control lever and made it work as the lever for the TV cable. I drove it about 15 miles that shifts all the way up through real good and I put a floor shifter in it so that helps so if I actually need a shift up to the gears it works that way. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
