Default 9.5" 14 bolt swap

Does the stock driveshaft length still work after the swap?I know I would have to change the rear U joint.

I knew that there was a 9.5 14 bolt thread floating around...I didn't read through the whole thing, but hopefully you'll find the info that you're looking for in here: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...hlight=14+bolt

I just did the swap and it needed no moddifying. I got a 9.5" 14 bolt from a 2006 2wd Silverado SS with 3.73's and Posi. The guy that sold it to me said I might need to shorten my driveshaft since my truck is a RC but it went it without a hitch. He also thought I might need to change the yolk but did not have to either. The only thing changed was we swapped the disk brakes from my diff to the new one because it had drum brakes but I could have kept the drums if I wanted to. Of course I had an oddball rear anyway so maybe those changing over from the 8.5 10 bolt would have some minor modding to do.

I changed because I had to as I could not find a Posi for my rear end(Dana Super 44) to save my life.

I am looking at doing this swap. The rear I have located is drum breaks and the salvadge yard says 14 bolt. I have disc brakes. Will my discs bolt right to this rear? I need to know cause a rental car is costing me $35 day and I am tired of breaking my rear end.

If the rear end you are about buy is a old model you will need to move the spring perches out. I just hooked the drums up to my existing line. no the disk setup wont just bolt up.

I had to move the spring perches out and I had spacers made to run my disc brakes. This was on a SF 9.5" 14 bolt.
