Are the 800# springs overkill in the Eaton LSD?

Haha yeah, that thread is less than inspiring...
my truetrac has been working great though, I just wanted something a little different for this truck, maybe a bit more predictable for rolling burnouts and drifting shenanigans...

I say you be the guinea pig and try the Eaton LSD with the 800# springs. It might be what you're looking for - that nice middle ground between a full Detroit locker and the True Trac / Eaton LSD with 400# springs.

I found this video. Really puts things into perspective, and doesn't use any springs.

there is a parts 2 from him as well.

Alright, let's not even turn this thread into a truetrac bash session.. that was my mistake even bringing it up when all I was wondering about was the Eaton Posi performance with 800# springs.

...just tried calling Randy's just to inquire if they'd sell one already built with the heavier springs, but I was too late, closed.

Anyone have any input on oils and additives to run with the Steel clutch plates??

After breaking 3 teeth off my spider gears, I'm going with the 800lb springs. I **** kick my truck on the street and track all the time.

Tom's differential is $62 cheaper than Summit racing which is surprising.
Those videos really helped me understand the LSD. Being that these are clutch based they will need retuning after a short while I would assume.

His video of him setting up a Pro Mod rearend was very informative as well.

400lb or 800 lb doesn't sound like it matters if you set the rear up correctly.
