Default 700R4 to TH350 Swap

ok i have been looking into this swap for a while but need some feedback on what else i should do... i have a 700R4 but i friend who i trust alot. said that if you get a TH350 and put an overdrive kit on it, it'll be bullet proof.. <-- i like the sound of that... now is there anything else i should do to it? Shift Kit? etc? i already planned on putting a tranny cooler on it

The 350 is not significantly stronger than the 700R4 and the overdrive kit is called a gear vendors unit and they run I think around 3000 dollars. I would think that swap over carefully and either go with a built 700r4 or maybe even a 4l80e.

If you are going with a 3 speed then a th400 is the way to go. Much stronger than the th350. I am thinking about this swap right now.

Whats your power rating??? A basically stock engine with boltons, you can get away with a 700-R4. But if you go with a 3speed, I would go with the
TH-350. Sure the 400 will hold more power, but unless you have a big-block with a blower and nitrous, the 400 will just cost you power. The internals are very heavy, and it would just be overkill. IMHO....

I would go 700r4 you will hate not having overdrive, but if u are gonna go 3 speed, def the 350 cause you would loose so much power with the 400.

I currently have the 700r4 built to the moon and I am VERY concerned that it will not hold. I will be making the swap. It not that it robs power it is the lower first gear that makes it seem that way.
