80e all the way. YOu can do as much on a stock 80e as a built 4l60/65

 

I'd say 80E too. I did it, and yeah 1st gear isn't great, but I don't regret it. I like knowing that I can beat on the truck as much as I want and that the trans will take it all day long. I was so paranoid about my 60E after going through 4 in 3 months.

Plus, as stated above, the 80E has a 2.75/1.75 1st and 2nd gear available, that's what GM puts in the RV's. If gear ratios are a huge concern, you could do those gears.

4L80E comes with 2.48 1.48 1.00 .75 ratios the early 4L80Es can use the 2.75 1.68 ratios that are available from TCI made for the TH400,but those ratios won't fit a late model 4L80E.

 

Sweet, mine's an early model. Might be something I have to do at some point.

 

Go with a Level 5 65e from FLT or just bite the bullit and go with a 80e. I wanted a 80e but Chuck told me I would be fine with his Level 5 so I went that way. I know before it is all over I will smoke the Level 5 and have a 80e sitting in there.

 

I would just stick with the 70E. There's no reason you can't find one to hold up to a Radix. Just have it built for your application.

 

How much different is the 70e than a 65e stock for stock? From all the people that ive talked to they are saying its pretty much the same thing.
