5-Speed shifter for Silverado manual
#1
I am back with more V6 questions.... If you remember my thread "trusty old 4.3" a while back I was figuring out the best way for my friend to spend come cash to make his little 6 banger run stronger and harder. Well we just got finished ordering about 1800 bucks worth of good stuff. we got a complete magnaflow exhaust system, JBA headers, programmer, TB spacer, Cold air intake, Jet pulleys and, some 2" drop shackles for the rear. With the extra ponies he'll be building in the power plant he wants to make sure he's hitting the shifts just right. What hurst or equivalent shifter will fit in a 5 speed 2005 tranny? what about the ones in the RST trucks? what kind are they and how would I go about getting one?? if you have any input please let me know. Thanks for the help. The little truck will definitely have more pep in its step. I think he wants to cam and spray it next already..... more to follow. He should be registering on the site soon. Thanks again guys.

The Joe Gibbs shifter should fit. I think it is just the handle and not the whole shifter though. They could get it for looks though. The shifter base on my 05 looks just like my 1995 trucks does. I'd call Hurst and see if they are compatible. The newer trans is a tremec tr-3450 and the older is a New Venture nv-3500. From the best I can tell they swaped over to the tremec somwhere in the 2001-2004 range. I am unsure of that though. One problem I and 2 other people i know of have has is hard shifting into 3rd. After a while it will start to get stuck somewhere between 3rd and 5th. The only way to keep this from happening is shifting easy to 3rd.
