4wd Tahoe driveshaft max rpms?

Default 4wd Tahoe driveshaft max rpms?

I tried the "search" but came up with nothing.

What are the limitations of the stock driveshaft on a 4wd Tahoe, specifically a 2003 Z71 Tahoe? Since it is steel (I think) and much shorter than the Silverado ones, I would think it could keep in one piece at higher RPMs.

alot of the people with the answer are on in the evenings.
I figure if you stay under 135 in drive you should be fine.

Will getting my stock d-shaft balanced at a shop help my concerns? What good shops in Houston are recommended and how much does that run?

How much HP and how fast are you planning on running. The only good reason I can see to spend money on your driveshaft is if your putting down big numbers and hit the track a lot causing triple digit speeds quite often.
If your not going f/i just put some strong u-joints in it and you'll be fine.

another question would be are you lifting the truck and or putting larger tires on it? and how long is your driveshaft? The shorter the better.

the power u are going to put out, it will handle fine. i would upgrade to some better u-joints depending on the miles it has like spicer or neapco. getting a driveshaft balanced is kind of a funny thing. the reason for it is because the tubing isn't straight or the tube yokes aren't welded on straight usually both. some they weld washer on the low side of the tubing so the faster it spins it (should) goes staighter. but to answer your question u should have no problems if its all in good shape, i thinks its 3.00x.083 and that fine

That sounds good. What size u-joints do I need for my truck?

my rcsb ran low 10's on stock driveshafts but the lengths were changed so they were balanced. not sure if that was an improvement over the factory ballance. i ran it over 130mph many times and close to 150mph a time or two.
