Same problem. Just doing an extension housing swap as the trans came with a leaky one...seal looks new, bushing looks worn. Bolted up the replacement housing which came with a new bushing and seal, went to slide in the yoke and it was a no go. It would be a press fit to the yoke if I hammered on it, if it did not push the bushing out.
The pre 2004 bushings are supposedly 2.020" OD and the 2004+ are 2.023" OD. Don't know if it is possible to jam a 2004+ bushing into an older housing?
First pic is the tail with worn bushing, 2nd tail bushing looks in good shape but much thinner than the 3rd which is the no go and is solid brass. All are 464 castings.
This looks like the one in the new tail housing (3rd pic): http://sales.omegamachine.com/4L80E_...e_p/33411b.htm Maybe they did jam one in there as it is .003 larger OD if it is a 2004+ bushing. Housing casting year is 00.
