4l80e valve body qeustion
Hey I just got done rebuilding my 4l80e. I'm down to the valve body part. It originally had a hd-2 separator plate in it. Well I did the internal dual feed mod while I was in it. Now I know the hd-2 kit does the dual feed as well.
My question is this, should I use an original separator plate or the hd-2 plate? I also lost the original separator plate from a couple yrs back does anyone have one laying around? And my last question can I use stock trans gaskets for the valve body with the hd-2 plate? Would the lines or holes line up.

I ordered a stock separator plate and gaskets. Figured with the internal dual feed mod there is no need for the HD-2 plate. Just gonna drill holes to shift firmness and remove 3rd check ball. Any other ideas to do while I'm already there? Do I need to add the 8th check ball back in the valve body without using the hd-2 plate now?

I did trans isn't acting right. Hptuners isn't showing any codes. Its stuck in like second and 3rd. It will sometimes shift 3rd. I can command 1 and 4th and it will not shift. Only 2nd or 3rd. Reverse works great. I don't know what it is. Shifts are really soft as well. I'm just gonna pull it and let the trans builder look It over.

Is it in limp mode? I spoke with chris over at jakes today about a problem I'm having similar. Feels like it's stuck in 2nd or 3rd and reverse is perfect. He said to verify its in second by lifting it and seeing how fast it goes ~45ish with 3.73. If you verify that it is probably a power issue. I verified 12v at plug but he said that we need to drop the pan and verify at the internal harness. Hope this is relevant
