i have a 96 4l80e in a spare parts truck and i have 98 4l80e thats going are they interchangeable junk yards online list 96 by itself and 97-02 as the same.

The only difference I know of externally is the position of the rear trans cooler port. Either will work for a swap.

 

thats what i wanted to hear because i have a 98 on it way out i think and i have 96 thats in good shape with a broken frame so i wanted to be sure before i started tearing them apart for no reason and cant use 96 in my 98
