Default 4l80e shifts hard?

I just had this transmission installed in my Yukon Denali. http://www.gearstar.net/transmissions/more.php?unid=65
I had it retuned at the same time also. The 2-3 and sometimes 3-4 shifts really bang into gear hard when I am not WOT is there anything that can be done about this or is it just the nature of the beast? I have a 3000yank stall also.

Agree. Unlike the 60e, I've found the 80e to respond to tuning much better. Think it has to do with the 80e having 2 speed sensors and actually able to self tune (adaptive shift) over time based upon shift times in the tune.

When I set mine up I did do mid line valve body settings for the shifts. IMO there is only so much a tune can tweak to overcome hardware setup and I have no experience with tuning an aggressively setup transmission. Results may be different. It may depend on how aggressive the Gearstar setup is.
