Default 4L80E Options

So my 4L80E is stuck in forward gears (no reverse) and I'm not sure I want to have the same guy rebuild it again. It has about 5k miles and maybe 15 passes. A bit frustrating.

Looking at RPM Trans, Jakes, and Finish Line. Any others I should be looking at? Want to avoid replacing my next trans for awhile.

Couldn't say anything bad about Jakes.

I used a Jakes Stage III rebuild kit and haven't had any issues. Hit or miss I guess.

Did you get there standard Performance Trans? I didn't see the 300M input or Intermediate shafts?

Based on the research I've done, he is extremely knowledgable. But also a bit moody and confrontational.

I'm not sure I want to have the local guy do this trans again. I'm going to call a few companies tomorrow and try to figure this out. I don't want to pull it for awhile.

Is there a list of critical parts that need to make these trans live?

Another option,

Get a "low mile" 80e from the junkyard. If the fluid is still red and not smelling burnt, it's fine.

Put an HD2 shift kit in it and call it a day.

Here is the uncut, 55min video of the HD2 install on a junkyard 80e.

^ that's what I did, found a 66k mile 85e and did an HD2. Haven't installed it yet, but hopefully it holds behind my turbo 5.3. I did order a Jake's billet triple disk converter when they were on sale for the price of a single disk

That was an idea as well, but unsure if the factory input shaft we be okay at 700-800rwhp? I plan to eventually go 8 rib and 20 psi.

And I want to avoid changing it again, lol
