Angry 4l80e noise, does it ever end? (Good things happen to good people)

Well, the last couple weeks my trans has been acting up. I could hear and feel a clunk while rolling backwards in reverse and in neutral. I thought the noise was from the rear-end. When I shot this masterpiece, I thought it was the transfer case. I was not so lucky. Here is a quick clip of the noise.....

clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk

I have sense pulled the transfer case. I found the trans does not spin free in neutral. I'm hoping for a broken parking pawl spring or pawl. I think it is a long shot though..

FWIW, the trans shifts good, and has every gear. the noise usally goes away within a few feet of rolling forward..

Any other ideas? I'll be pulling the pan this weekend.....

Well a quick update, trans is on its way out. I removed the pan to find the pawl and spring intacked and metal in the pan..
I pulled the exhaust and all cross members today, it's up to the trans to get it's happy *** self out now, I'm tired of pulling it...

This is why I HATE pulling the trans or even the god damn pan. The exhaust has got to come out... IN ONE PIECE. so ALL cross members, torsion bars must go first... PITFA (but look at all that beautiful Hot pipe. mmm,mm looks fast....)
I think this makes the fifth time I've pulled the trans...

That is why you need to make that turbo setup in to a "quick disconnect" style. That is what I did when I had my STS on. It came off in 3 pieces. Very very very easy to take off and put back on. Hope that tranny gets its act together for you. It took me 5 of the little ***** before I found one that didnt like to take a dump inside of itself with in the first 100 miles.

Damn dude... sorry to hear I second the recommendation on "quick disconnects". I use the v-band style... works great

More carnage pics please
