Default 4L80E input shaft o-ring....

After receiving my second aftermarket torque converter that will not engage all the way, I decided to try it without the o-ring on the input shaft and it fit fine. Re-installed the o-ring, converter didn't engage all the way again. Anyone else ever had a problem with the oring rolling out of the groove causing the converter not to slide all the way in? I am wondering if I need to get another tranny specific o-ring from GM or go to an industrial supply store and get a tighter fitting o-ring? Maybe even a rubber o-ring that is a little smaller that will swell a bit once the ATF hits it?

Are you using a factory input shaft? I have seen with after market shafts and converters. I use a seal lube stick from sonnax to grease the **** out of it to avoid this problem. You can also use a product called door-ease to do this. I have found this product in a hardware store at times. Good luck Kid!

Thanks for the advice Vince. Yes, it is still stock input shaft. Trans is out of an '05 6.0L HD. Stock converter slides in and out no problem.
