Default 4L80e... flexplate question

I've done 2 4L80e swaps so far, one in my 99 RCSB 4.8 and one in my 2004 GTO with a built LQ4 and LS1 crank.

I'm getting ready to do a swap now in a Mustang with a 2003 LQ4. What freakin flexplate do I need for this thing? I've searched high and low and I can not find a definitive answer. Do I need a "LS1 to 4L80e" flexplate with the crank spacer??? Do I not need a crank spacer and need the dished plate like the TCI 399754? I'm so confused and I need to get this **** ordered.

From what I've found, I think it was only the EARLY LQ4s that had the extended crank and therefore those are the only ones that DON'T need the crank spacer. Since mine is a 2003 I think I DO need the spacer and then just any LS1 to 4L80e flexplate will work.

So basically if I order the following am I good to go?

Hughes Performance LS1 Flexplate Adapters HP3795
Hughes Performance Heavy-Duty Flexplates HP4004X-EBP

Can someone please clarify for me so I can order parts today?

Thanks!

Adam

Stock 4L80e converter for now. Not a "conversion" converter.

Only the iron headed LQ4s had the extended crank .

You just need a stock flex plate for a 2003 LQ4 /4L80e , shouldn't be hard at all to get .

I believe 02' and up flex plate from 6.0/80e will work for you.

Sad to hear its going in a mustang but that's the only way to make them fast .

From everything i have gathered, if you have the stock flexplate, and stock converter you will need the crank spacer.

Yeah , if he gets the stock flex plate setup for the 03 6.0/80e combo he will be set . I sold the stock flex plate I had from my 03 LQ4 but IIRC it had the spacer on the flex plate . Please correct me if I'm wrong it's been a while since I've seen it .

Get a 80e flexplate like a TCI, they come with the spacer.

TCI 399754 is the SFI plate you are looking for. It does not need the crank spacer, the flexplate has it built in. You will need a converter pilot extender, and I think it comes with the TCI flexplate.
