Default 4l80e driveshaft length

hey guys, i was just wondering if anybody knew just how much the driveshaft needs to be shortened for a 4l80e swap. Either the amount shorter it is than the 4l60 driveshaft, or the overall length thats needed would be great. Thanks alot.

I had to shorten the rear drive shaft 3" when I stabbed the 80E in my Syclone.

i wonder if it would be the same on mine since the stock transmission for the cyclone is the same length as my stock 4l60, i think so at least. It was a 700-r4 that came in those right? The 4l60 and 700-r4 is the same length as far as i know.

My 2000 only required the new yoke and it bolted right up with no cutting. (RCSS)

cool, i hope mine might be the same way. Im trying to do a motor and tranny swap at the same time with as little downtime as possible. And i really dont want to pay $350 for the driveshaft from speed engineering. Do you guys have any play left in it to accomidate lowering? My truck is pretty slammed so the driveshaft sits into the trans a little bit more than normal right now as it is.

Ughh...Im an idiot.

I forgot about the extra adaptor plate that mates the sy/ty AWD case to the 80e making the set up longer than what you guys are doing. Forget what I said.

Let the public beating commence...I deserve it .

No way are we going to beat up on you Myclone. You've done about 3 times more stuff than 99% of us on the boards.
I'm an old sy/ty'r too. I just got tired of working on them constantly

I cant think of any more true words that have been spoken previously. If youre a former owner you know its a love/hate thing. I love the little PIA truck and it hates me .
