Default 4L80E Desired Shift Times

I was told by one of our most reputable tuners that once valve body mods are done, you cannot reliably set a desired shift time for the 80E because it may lead to inconsistent shifts, as in too hard of a shift one time, too soft the next. So he said to just set the desired shift times all to zero and adjust firmness using the pressures. Is anyone successfully using non-zero desired shift times for their 80E?

One my 80E is in, I'd like to have it shift fairly soft and smooth in normal mode, but then use tow/haul as a performance shift mode for much firmer and higher shifts.

That's the way I have mine set. 1-2, 2-3 are soft and slower at lower throttle and progressively quicker and firmer up to wot. Its very perdictable. Don't know the specifics of the 80e but its supose to be built.

I have done it both ways without issues and consistent shifts.
