Default 4l80e Cracked Bellhousing

Just wanted some opinions about this transmission. Would it be dangerous to run? or will it be fine. Everything else seems to look good. But I'm no transmission guy by any means so that's why I'm asking you guys. Its a 1999 80e that came out of 2500 pickup that was involved in a side impact wreck. The guy that I bought it from had the top four bellhousing bolt holes welded back on. It was cheap so that's why I grabbed it.

Personally, I don't trust aluminum welds on broken casting for **** in a high load situation. If the weld doesn't crack, the casting will break somewhere else.

You might get lucky and have it hold just fine, but a side impact great enough to shear the case at the bolts had to have some repercussions for the case specs as a whole.

I ran two welded 80e. My current one is welded. I would run it. As long as welds are good!

You could always get an aftermarket bell housing for it

That's one reason I grabbed it. I figured you could get a aftermarket bellhousing but i've done some research and haven't found any for a 80e
