I stumbled across this thread the other night luckily. Great info like this saved my 4l80e i had put different cooler lines in my low mile trans when i did my chevelle swap. Thanks for all the invaluable info on this site.

so what's the easy way to tell if you have the newer 80e vs the older model?

also, anyone tried these yet?

No idea how to tell but those fittings should work. Robert Godfrey (transbuilderguy) goes over this exact thing on his FB page. A customer installed one of his 80e's and smoked the clutch pack because of a lack of lubrication.

my 80e acts up when it gets hot. adding a cooler and plan to check to make sure I have the correct fittings.

Older ones have fittings next to each other like a 4l60e. Newer are far apart and require the longer fitting.
