Default 4l80e center support bolt

Hello. Been lurking here for a while but this would be my first post.

There is alot of great info here, so much so that after reading a bunch I figured I could tackle a hd2 shift kit.
I made a little mistake though. I went to go install the "new 4th bolt" from the transgo kit and I accidentally started to loosen what I know now is the center support bolt. Can I just torque it back up to 32 foot pounds and be done? The trans is still fully assembled minus the valvebody

Yes, just torque it back down.

You'll be fine, just torque it back down.

Great thanks.
Can someone confirm the torque spec for me. When I searched originally I found 32lbs but I have since been told 18lbs and 20-25lbs. Does anyone know for certain?

From the way it reads you never completely removed the bolt so all that needs to be done is torque it back down. Sorry I don't know the torque spec here either. I do remember replacing the "4th bolt". Does anyone know what that bolt actually does? Someone needs to make an update to address the reverse band breakage issue on the 80Es. I thought maybe that bolt was it but I think I'm wrong.

Can anyone provide the torque spec if I choose to use the 4th support bolt Transgo provides, or the GM #8686124 original? The Transgo replacement has a 4mm hex head so I expect it isn't torqued to near the value of the center support bolt, but my search has come up empty. The GM original T-40 torx head looks like it could take a lot of torque and easily be twisted off--was that the rational behind substituting a hex head bolt? Mitchell manual is silent on this, and haven't found an ATSG manual to check yet--by the dearth of info it almost seems no one puts this bolt in whether as part of the HD-2 kit, or in a full rebuild!

I personally never use the bolt TG supplies because I have found that it likes to strip out when being removed. The OE spec's torque the 4th clutch housing bolt at 17ftlbs.

Many thanks for the torque spec --I also queried Transgo on the rational for the bolt replacement and didn't get anywhere, so your experience, Vince, is most helpful.
