Thanks bro I'm glad to have the reliability back! I knew the 60 would go out, but i do know that a 60 with a converter is faster than a 80 with a converter, but im not speaking from experience so i keep my mouth shut. Only times will tell! Hopefully ill have some 500ft comparable times.

This thread or the op was to give the people who are interested in doing the swap and to be able to read and prepare themselves for what they are doing! I hope somebody gets some use out of this thread other than just saying the weight i posted isn't right or the hp (i never posted any numbers) is lower?????

oh well there goes this thread being a sticky for people to have some useful info about the real driving experience of the 80.

I can MOST DEFINITELY feel the difference in the two as far as mass go. I ran a 65E/Yank SS3600 and a stock 80E and CircleD 3500 behind the same powerplant and I'm here to tell ya, I would have ran circles around my own *** if I was in the 65E setup, just been holding my breath waiting for something to go pop....

that being said, my 80E swap has been nothing but absolute hell and headaches since mine went in... didnt mean to threadjack ya Chris... I'm glad to hear yours is running nice for ya again.

The 60 is about 30 or so lbs lighter then the 80, like stated... I will wait for my 60 to go bang, before I will consider the 80, but I am also a rcsb truck and not a ec truck, so a lil less weight, which has, is the reason they die in the trucks... There are a few guys left running the 60 with good results thus far.. If mine does go, I have a 80 on the side to have done, or might do the next step up 60, depending on what lets loose.. Glad you like the new trans. You will def have a harder time breaking it LOL BTW is it built or just a shift kit??

I've done the swap and the taller gear in the 80e does suck but you get used to it and when you really start making good power you start to like it. And IMO it does rob a good deal of power. No hard data here, just speaking from personal experience so +1 to what Chris said.

I think most of the loss is from the stock 80 converter. I stopped putting fluid in it after putting around a gallon in in.

After puttin my PI stall in, there is a vast difference

There is no doubt a stall is needed haha! Esp if you dont make much power like me! But i wanted the drivability and don't mind a little lag for a change, it keeps me from spinning everytime i nail it. I feel a yank in my future though !

Guess I will add that I've never run my 80e with a stock converter. PI Vigilante went in with it.
