Colton, he is just a weakling...
You mean you got 6 months out of yours? haha,, i was getting a few weeks out of mine.
But over all i wish i would have gone with a 80E right off the bat.. Im not scared to tow anything, i know the 80E wont complain...

man i would say I will never own another higher hp truck without an 80! I love it too!
After buying my trans and all the parts needed I have about 900 or so in the swap doing the work myself and buying lunch for a few guys helping me! I will keep the 3.73 cause its a great gear for a daily driver, im not trying to run an 11 sec pass i just want a dependable truck that runs like they should have made the ss Silverado run, atleast out running STOCK ls1's and gt mustangs haha!

I prolly spent $3200 for my 80E, TC, Installation kit, shift kit and rebuild. U can do it cheaper by assembling the install kit pieces urself form various suppliers. R/

I'm sorry I'm not buying a 75 rwhp loss. The 4l80e is not the monster sized transmission you all make it out to be, in fact when I got mine I was surprised at how small it was. The dry weight of the trans is only 20-30lbs more than a 4l60e. The biggest cause for weight difference is the stock 80e converter weighing 30 lbs more. That's a crap ton of extra weight to get rotating which is why I think people notice a loss in low end. Yes the gear ratio is higher, but one of the members here switching from a stock 60e converter/built 60e to a 4l80e with a circle D 3200-3400 stall and says that the 80e is much better all around, with no low end lost, probably gained. The reality of the matter is that all trucks should have come with the 4l80e. I mean GM put the 80e behind the 4.8 in vans, so why not the trucks. Gas mileage versus reliability was probably the reason...

Really no way of knowing about power loss on my truck but yes lb for lb the 60 is lighter and better for trucks that aren't making 500ftlbs or better. Im not saying my truck makes anywhere near that im stating the fact that the 80 has more parasitic loss than the 60, as for weigh ill check that later as I will be pulling the trans soon for a converter and ill check the trans weight and the converter weight, All im trying to do is give my opinion on this. I have presented no facts that there is 75.2431 hp lost with the swap and that the 4l80 weighs 39.675 lbs more dry but weighs 75lb more with fluid......it doesn't matter, What matters is i wanted everyone to read the facts that i tested, Its heavier, its slower in first, it pulls great on the highway and part throttle around town, and its great to roll with the stock converter. Gmctrk, put the 80 in and you do a write up on how much more power your truck has and how much faster it is and ill rest my case!

-ever heard of bench racing???
I can MOST DEFINITELY feel the difference in the two as far as mass go. I ran a 65E/Yank SS3600 and a stock 80E and CircleD 3500 behind the same powerplant and I'm here to tell ya, I would have ran circles around my own *** if I was in the 65E setup, just been holding my breath waiting for something to go pop....
that being said, my 80E swap has been nothing but absolute hell and headaches since mine went in... didnt mean to threadjack ya Chris... I'm glad to hear yours is running nice for ya again.
