Need to replace the trans in my 4wd 5.3L 04 tahoe.

friend has his trans from his 04 GTO for sale, for a price i cant turn down. i read before that all i need to do is swap the bellhousing and of course swap the tail shaft for my transaxle and it should work fine. i just want to verify this.
