Default 4l60e shifting issues

i have a 2003 chevy 1500 z71 and left work to go to lunch.
and it would not shift into 4th at all.
so i got back in the truck after getting my food.
and headed back to work and it would not shift into 2nd or 3rd or 4th.
stopped at a light and had nothing but idle speed then it finialy shifted into 1st.
but would not shift any higher than 1st. could this be the internal selonids?
its got 168k on the trans as far as i know its never had any work done to it.
i have had truck about two years now.

spoke to a shop today and explained the issue and he said could be the selonids.
and if it were them his coast of doing the work is 950 it includes going into the.
convertor and looking everything else over and adding a shift kit.

any suggestions or ideas please? ASAP!! thank you

Time for overhaul! With 168K + miles, there could be many internal issues - i.e. sun shell, input sprag, 2/4 band, 3/4 clutch pack, bushing wear, torque converter clutch, gears & gaskets all need refreshed soon.....I recommend to do it all now... The only possible quick fix (for now) I could recommend is new filter & fluid with Dextron VI - provided there is no considerable amount of debris in the pan. Fuzz on the magnet is ok.

Hope that helps you out some!

Do you have a check engine light on? If so, the truck could be in "limp mode" or the codes could be trans related and that will point you in the direction of an electronic failure. If no check engine light then it is an internal mechanical failure. You could try trans filter and new fluid, if filter is clogged that would cause odd/no shift. While you have pan off check old fluid for large chunks and large amount of metal shavings.
