Default 4l60e rebuild ?

What kind of kit would I need to upgrade my transmission it's got 300,000 miles on the original transmission so I don't know how much longer it will last. As of now I'm getting 283 at the rear wheels don't plan on doing many more mods though. Thanks

Opening the transmission could kill it, very possible the clutch material inside the fluid now is the only thing helping it live.

Do what you can with a transmission tune then think ahead for a rebuild. It's what I would do.

A master rebuild kit should come with everything you need.

Your basic rebuild kit with high energy. From what I have been told the Alto clutches don't last. You can add a corvette servo.

If you're looking for a specific place to buy, Then I don't know. I use various sources such as local Trans supply house and Ebay.

Lurking because this relates to a future project. Difference being I'll be picking up a core from the salvage yard and I'm not building it for power. Just OE power.

Where is a good place to get a master rebuild kit?

Also, what are some general service parts to pick up?

Are you currently experiencing any issues with your trans? If not and you are simply looking for some performance improvement, we have a few options for you. Our Shift Improver Kit (part #70360) will give your 4L60E firmer, more positive shifts or if you want to step up to our Transpak (part #70365) you can also set the shift characteristics of your 4L60E to better suit your driving style. If your current transmission is close to giving up the ghost and you are looking to upgrade rather than rebuild, we also offer a high-performance Street/Strip 4L60E transmission for 98+ LS type engines (part #117308). PM me if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help steer you in the right direction. Good luck.
