Hey guys well my tranny is out. The trans shop says total rebuild I don't buy it. I have blown up soo many transmissions that I know when there is a problem. Nothing has gone wrong with this one noise shift probs nothing nadda she runs then all gears are gone all of the sudden shut her down for two minutes she drives again for a min? Tried to check for codes and the reader won't register. One other thing an electrical connector was hanging down disconnected when the tow truck showed up I reconnected it. By any small chance is my gut right and she is in some sort of "limp" mode? I really need some anwsers before I drop 1700 on a rebuild with a decent convertor and such.

Thats a expensive rebuild. I would figure 500 for labor, 350 for a good kit and 500 for the converter. Have you ever replaced MLP Sensor, PRNDL switch? This part

No I haven't could that be a potential problem? This guy came by says it reverts to limp mode ( k so so far I am right) he wants to drop the pan to install sensors and drive it to see whats up. Any other ideas or elaborations?

i have an 80e but when i first put it in i had a pin in one of the plugs pushed out and it was the power wire pin so my trans had no power for the solenoids... and it would start off in second and never shift... like a limp mode.. something to think about.. i dont know what the 60e does with no power...

If the connector is unplugged, it will default to 3rd gear. If it is loosing all forward gears, then there is an internal problem. No solenoids or sensors will cause that, so don't waste your time trying to change them.
It sounds like you have a mechanical problem sending metal/clutch debris through the fluid, which after a couple of minutes of driving will eventually clog the filter. Once the filter is clogged, it looses all gears. If you let it sit for a minute or so, the filter will drain back allowing you to move.
