Default 4l60e Help!!!

I have a '99 model s10 4x4 with high mileage. About 6 weeks ago it stopped shifting into 3-4 and I figured it was shot. Without a garage to rebuild I picked one up at a local junk yard. After putting that transmission in I didn't have 2nd or 4th gear. So I exchanged it for a second used transmission and after putting that one in I don't have 3rd or 4th again. What the heck is going on? The owner of the junk yard claimed to have driven this last transmission personally last week before pulling it assuring me it was a good one. Help! Before I lose mind I haven't had a vehicle to drive in almost 2 months.

3/4 failure is very known on 4l60s..2/4 not working = burnt band..your best bet is to get it rebuilt

Yes I know, and I figured the bands were gone that's why I took it back but what are the odds of getting another bad one, especially when the guy said he drove it personally to make sure it shifted? Getting it rebuilt is out of the question, I'd rather save myself $1500 and buy another truck.

dude you are buying junk yard parts. its like your wife reusing a tampon. even worse its a 4l60e. i would say your odds of another bad one are pretty high. right now you are 2 for 2 failed 60s.

here is what i recommend. YOU drive the truck that trans comes out of before putting it in yours. also check the fluid and open the pan up before buying it.
