4L60E Air Test
Ok fellas, I am in the middle of reassembling my '99 4l60e and just did the air checks on the reverse input and forward drum. I wanted to check with those who are more familiar than I with this. Here's the results, testing was done at 40-50psi.
Forward drum test at the turbine shaft ports:
3/4: air bleeding through bleed orifice on drum, no leakage after plugging orifice.
Forward: No leakage, no 3/4 apply.
Overrun: Bleeding through forward port, no leakage after plugging forward. No 3/4 apply.
Forward drum test through pump ports:
3/4: same as above test
Forward: Getting some leakage out of the overrun. IS THIS OK? Bleed through Teflon sealing rings?
Overrun: Same as above test.
Reverse Input test through pump ports:
I am getting some air blowing through the bleed hole on the piston. Double checked Belleville plate, it's installed correctly. The leakage decreases as I increase pressure, so I am assuming this is normal?
I am also getting some air bleeding out of the Teflon sealing rings. I had ordered extra and replaced one earlier, didn't make any difference.
Reverse Input drum is a brand new ACDelco unit and all Teflon sealing rings are new as well all pistons/piston seals. all sealing rings look fine, not cut or damaged. Any help is appreciated!
