Default .380" converter pad to flexplate gap

Just got done bolting my trans up and decided to do the smart thing and measure the converter to flexplate gap. I came up with roughly .380, which is obviously too much. Now I'm looking for suggestions.

Precision Ind. (brand of converter i'm using) says if the gap is over .187, install a .060" washer. And that's all their paper says. So installing .060" washers will bring my gap down to ~.320", which is still far from .187".

My Yank paper says the gap should be at least .09375(3/32), but no more than .3125(5/16).

I have some .073" thick hardened washers that i could use to bring me close to Yank's spec, but still far from PI's spec. What should I do?

Yea, that's probably my best bet. Need some longer bolts too. Damn short *** ARP's.

Well three washers will be .219" thick and close my gap down to ~.161"

Now my question is, would three washers cause too much leverage to be placed on the bolts?

Not if you get the correct length bolts.

Use 10.9 or better, and make sure you get a long enough bolt to have full engagement into the converter.

Will do. My local hardware store stocks nice 10.9 bolts with flanged heads, so that's most likely what i'll get. May get regular head 10.9 bolts too, just in case I run into clearance issues with the rear engine cover...

Thanks for the advice, guys.

One more thing, does everyone else torque to 44 ft-lbs with red loctite?
