Default 2nd Gear "only" Trans Slip 4l65e

Just recently noticed a slip in the tranny in 2 gear only....slips for a couple of seconds then catches. This is only once I am already going and give it PART throttle. If I take off from a dead stop and run first of to redline and stay in it slams into 2nd hard like it always has with NO slip...?? Again this is the only gear it happens in and DOES NOT do it unless I have just shifted into second cruising slow and get into the throttle some.

The trans is built with high end hard parts along with a zpak set of clutches.

I am thinking maybe the pressure solenoid and/or band for 2nd is going out..???

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks in advance

Those are just a couple of things... How about 1-2 Accumulator piston. Those were plastic ones that are prone to cracks (if your built trans has one). Also, I think if there's any seal issues with the servo, that'll play a role too. I'm in the habit of considering EVERY possible factor. I don't know if any builder will say definitively without looking at the trans.

If it doesn't slip going into 4th, I'd think less likely of the 2-4 band (or rev input drum) as a cause. Just my $0.02. I'm just an amateur.

If in fact it is the 1-2 acc piston, lets hope we have not hurt the band. Take a look and lets see what you find. Vince

OUCH! To replace the epc once the pan is down it takes only a few minutes. Did they pull the valve body because the did not know the solenoid was bad?
