Default 285/40/22 tires on 3/6 drop. Will it rub?

So I'm wanting to lower my truck either 3/5 or 3/6 (possibly 4/6) and I know most people run a 35 series tire, but I like a little more sidewall and was hoping to run 285/40/22.

Would I be able to run a 285/40/22 on any of those drops? Is anybody running or know somebody that has that setup?

I'd be ok with a little rubbing just as long as I'm able to successfully make a U-turn on the road

It's an 06 Sierra crew cab.

Thats going to be close. I think it will rub pretty bad. I have 275/45 and they rub some on bumps and hard turns with a 3/4 drop. A good offset and you might pull it off.

I believe the Escalade wheels I'm running have a +31 offset

Yeah, I think you will be ok. I've got a 4/6 drop running 305/40/22's with a +25 offset and rubbed only on full turns. Ended up shaping the plastic on the inner fenders to correct.

You're driving a totally different truck. The 07+ trucks can run a much larger tire than the 99-06 trucks. He will rub with 285/40/22s unless he has perfect backspacing, and even then he will still probably rub. I would run at the most a 285/35/22

Oh crap, I misread his post. On a 06, you will probably rub. Thanks "randomHero" for correcting me.

Ya man those new body styles got some big *** wheelwells

I might just bite the bullet and go 285/35/22. I'm just paranoid of potholes.
Hopefully I'll have it dropped around Christmas time.

What kind of rims will you be running? Even the 285/35/22 tires may rub if you have more than a 2.5" difference between your wheel width and backspacing.

I'm running 285/35r22s on rims with a +30 offset and had to roll the rears slightly and the fronts rub the inner fenders on large bumps. It's on a 04 CCSB with a 3/5. The backs are not the big issue but the front fender wells have an odd shape to them that you may be able to hammer out I just have gotten around looking at them close enough to figure out if they have anything behind them to be concerned with.

I'm running OEM 2007 Escalade 22s.

I don't know what I want to do. I mean it looks good stock height, but I sure love a low truck. Plus the previous owner had it notched so it's ready to go down whenever.

I just don't want to have to worry about rubbing all the time.
