2006 Silverado Emergemcy Brake

How do I remove the emergency brake cable from old brake shoes, as I am installing new shoes?

Do you have drum or disk brakes in the rear?

When I changed my E-brake shoes (rear disk), I had to compress a pretty stiff spring to get the cable loose.

Grab spring holding cable with pliers, grab cable end with pliers, and its a pull and twist game but it will come.

Glad you got it done. They can be a PITA. They do make a nifty little tool you can pick up at most parts stores that will compress the spring while you remove the cable. Makes it a little easier.
