Default 2005 Brake Makeover Follow Up

I recently redid my brakes on my 2005 Z71 ECSB.
I am extremely pleased. I would have never predicted the degree of felt improvement, or the ability to avoid pad material transfer onto the rotors over the stock setup.

I was running Raybestos Advanced Technology Rotors with the same line of pads and the OE rear drum system.
Although the Raybestos fronts held up better than the OE as far as not transferring material onto the rotors as easily giving me the warped feel, they still could be made to do it in a high speed panic/avoid radar or danger braking type of session. If you were to request that I make it happen I could make it happen.

The Rotors I went with are the premium line from R1 Concepts (not drilled or slotted) and the pads are the Raybestos Police line units designed for pursuit duty. We used the Tahoe part number.
The drums were replaced with the Raybestos Advanced Technology line with new GM OE replacement shoes.

I have had the Russel Performance braided lines on for a long time and use speed bleeders to keep the fluid fresh with dispatch.

Tonight I had the chance to test them unexpectedly to the max and was amazed at the increased stopping power and the unusual amount of lighter pedal pressure requirement.

I couldn't believe how much better the truck slowed and in a way that I am used to it having me thinking about when I'm going to pull the rotors to have them turned.

I bedded or burnished them in pretty darned good after the install 1k ago and have been just cruising around. I have not tested them for harsh breaking until I was forced to do so this evening.
I also did the same with the rears by holding the parking brake release and applying force just to the rears off and on again until I felt they were burnished.

I am very pleased with the R1 Concept premium Rotors and Raybestos Police formula pads combo. I have to say the rears are contributing very nicely also. I could tell all four corners were doing their jobs.

After the 1st initial surprise in better braking I took it out to my isolated testing area and worked them over to make sure it was not a Fluke. I'm very pleased.
