Question 2/4 drop on a silverado

Im going to drop my Truck 2"/4" with a DJM pro drop kit $420.00 is this a reasonable price for this kit, it includes Control Arms Shackles & Hangers but does not include shocks. First off if i can get this kit cheaper please direct me where and since this kit does not include shocks, what shocks do you recomend?
Thanks

2001 rcsb silverado w/ 20" rims 275 45r 20's

The cheaper route would be to do coils , hangers, and shackles, prob save about $100

I am going to go with the pro kit with the control arms. I have known people who have went with coils and the coil replacement gave them camber, i dont know if it was not installed properly or if the replacement coils are just softer which will result in slight camber which over time will cause uneven treadwear.

Usually an alignment can fix that. You're gonna need an alignment when you do the drop anyway. If you want a factory ride then stick with the DJM kit or you could get a spindle kit from McGaughy's. Some people don't like DJM lca's for some reason but I think they'll be fine. Get some pics up after you get it and good luck.

Thats a better price by a 150.00 than i paid 5 years ago. You will love this kit.
As far a shocks how much do you want to spend. Cheep and ok ride Toxic, or DJM for 30 to 40 each. Koni adjustable for around 125 each. I got toxic at the time I lowered my truck to save a little money till I could afford some Konis. It seems now all my extra money is going in to HP mods. I would also buy some slam air helper bags for the back.

I got my mcgaughys kit on ebay for $320. this was the 2003t spindles (requires 17" wheels or larger) the hangers and shackles. to my door with shipping was $355. I have been very happy.

I followed up the drop with some KYB nitrogen drop shocks all the way around. The shocks made a huge difference. My vote goes for the mcgaughy's kit.

The camber is adjustable on a fullsize, they have adjustable cams on the upper control arms.

id go with spindles if it were me! I have always used those and i hear that the control arms are a pain in the ****. But hey just drop it. You might want to heat the coils!!!HaHa
No serioulsy dont but the spindles say it requires a 17 or larger they need to change that crap to 18 because it doesn't work I tried 4 sets of wheels to see.
Post some pics when you get done
Thanks

I wondered about that. I have 20's and that lower ball joint stud looks pretty close. I guess maybe if you cut off the stud it might work.

If you are gonna drop it......20's or bigger won't be far behind. can't have one without the other.

I'd be more concerned about the travel (lack thereof) you are going to have in the back. IMO, on a NBS 4 inches worth of drop in the back needs a notch...
