Default 1991 4L80E to later model 80E...

My Suburban has an 80E, first year transmission. I believe it was either rebuild or updated while under the original warranty. It works really well but now that I have built the BBC, the only other thing standing in the way of this being a solid reliable DD is the trans. Don't get me wrong, it shifts nice and firm and acts exactly as it should, but **** happens.

My question is this, other than the changes with cooler line routing, different electrical connector/pins, and other small issues, can I swap in a newer 80E out of an 8.1 truck without any issues? Longevity wise, is it worth doing for a 400hp/500lbft tow vehicle? I do have full tuning capability, if that makes a difference.

shift shaft is different, mounts for brackets, and possibly the yoke will need to be changed
