Engine/Tranny = LQ4/80E
Fuel Mileage = 11 in town, 14 HWY (I've got 3.73)
2WD Towing = 3.73/8300 4.10/10300
4WD Towing = 3.73/7900 4.10/9900

I don't tow much, but comparing it to my old Z71 w/5.3, It deffinately pulls better. But, again, all I tow are a bass boat and Utility trailer. I have pulled my K5 that weighs in at a little over 6000lbs on a seriosly overbuilt car hauler without missing a beat, but it was all flat towing.

Cool

I get basically the same mpg. 12.7mpg average per tank in everyday driving. I got from 9 to 11 mpg towing a 5500 lb horse trailer at 75 mph depending on the terrain and traffic with the same gears. In some really hilly country I was in 2nd gear at 4300 rpm to maintain 50 mph if I let the speed drop but it would accelerate a little still uphill. If I got on it early it would maintain 75 in 2nd at 4300 rpm up the worst hills but it could sure make those hills feel long.

I've got a good idea what would make it a little better......Let my dad drive it, lol (Paw Paw) I'm sure your dads truck wouldn't get 20mpg if I was pushing the go pedal. I have heard of guys getting as good as 16-17 hwy, but I doubt I'll ever see it.

I spoke with Westers, they tune a lot of LQ4s and they said they could get 3 mpg increase out of it on a 93 Oct HOT Tune. I'm sure any tuner could get a couple if that is the case.

my '02 like stated above, LQ4/4L80E/3.73s/14bolt SF. Milage was around 10.5-11mpg, driving like grandmother or like i stole it; before tune. Did a nelson 93 tune and SLP intake at the same time and have gotten 15hwy and average 13-13.5 city with healthy driving habbits.

if you're worried about gas mileage that much, a truck probably isn't the way to go.
