Wanted to give an update to the Ujoint info. Its not as straightforward as I originally though. To quote what I wrote on another forum,

1330 Dimensions: 1st version (the one on the aluminum driveshaft)
Overal width - 3.625
Cap width - 1.0625
Outside Snap rings
1330 Dimensions: 2nd version
Overal width - 3.625
Cap width - 1.125
Outside Snap rings

I ordered a 1330 to 1350 joint from summit to put in and guess what.... IT DIDNT FIT!

Get a load of this crap, there are two different sizes of 1330 joints. Both have a 3.625 overall width, but one has a cap diameter of 1.125 and the other one has a cap diameter of 1.0625. The 1.125 is the more popular of the 2 and is easier to find, wheres the 1.0625 version is the one on my driveshat. Take a guess which one I bought?

To make this even better, there is no easy way to tell them apart, and they are both "1330" u joints.

So beware. If at all possible, measure your ujoint that you remove with some calipers and reference it to the above, then find what joint you need. The only place to find the ujoint that would work for me, is on jegs.

so pretty much one from a 05-07 2wd ss or vho would pretty much bolt on but will have smaller axles? is there anything that will bolt up with aftermarket axles on tap?

Nothing that i know of, The older years pre 98 have the the larger bearing journals, the newer axles unfortunatly use the smaller journals. A/market axles are all using the larger bearing dimensions.

Im not sure how much the diameter of the 14sf shafts vary between the years, but the difference from my 14b to my 10b was quite dramatic. The 14b shaft felt twice as heavy and much thicker.

I am in Garden Grove area of So Cal near the 22/405/605 If you wanna check out both styles of the 14 bolt in person. I have an 88-98 14 bolt 4x4 style wide 67.5wms-wms and the 99- up new body style 14 bolt 68.5 Wms-Wms from an 05-06 vho truck Usually its the ring and pinion or the little spider gears that let go. FWIW I have yet to see a 14 Bolt 9.5 axle break on its own. Only axles I have seen broken on a 8.5/8.6 10 bolt were serious rock crawling and drag racing hard on slicks...

The VHO one is not currently for sale but your welcome to look so you can see the differences in person. I can also build you a 9 inch housing Too if you want.

I updated the OP and the 3rd post in the thread with additional info.

The flanges need to be ground for the rotors to fit, FYI.
