Planned on swapping in 14 bolt Saturday morning but after pulling axles out I found axles tubes and diff had a lot of sludge caused by moister and oil mixing. Axle bearing are ruined but axles are ok. All carrier and pinion bearings seem ok as well. Ended up taking the housing to a car wash and cleaning inside.

Cleaned up nice

Nice! That's how I clean mine before modifying them.

I hope you got the moisture out right away though... They start flash rusting right away and if you planned on re-using any of the bearings they will do the same.

I sprayed everything with brake cleaner and then WD-40.

^^ I've done the same!

Relaxing, a few beers and wrenching is downtime for me as well.

14 bolt in and finished. Swap was amazingly easy. Never had to break open brake lines to swap out drums for my disk, it was simple. Calipers are canted at 45 degrees and looks a little weird but fit perfect. Feels good knowing it's better than original.

Did you put 2.75qt of oil in or did you use the 2.0 spec (wrong)? It's possible to have it come out the fill plug at 2qt due to angle.

So what is it supposed to be filled to? I just finished up my 9.5 swap with a TA cover and I'm in 4 quarts and I still can't touch the fluid through the fill hole with my pinky...
