The Saab parts diagram for the axle says that the bolts are all M8x1.25x20.

The image above is a 10 bolt. I believe you have a 14 bolt.
I found an image that suggest it may have had a brake line bracket at the 11 o clock position.

the image above looks exactly like my rear end it also has ten bolts holding the cover on.

still can't see a e-brake cable anywhere , I've enguaged the ebrake but never attempted to move vehicle while it was on.

please post image you found.

this vehicle has rear disc. brakes if that makes a differnce.
good news in all this mess is I found the G86 code in glove box I think this means LSD. so is the front diff. also LSD, this vehicle is AWD.

there aren't any switchs on the dash like 4 wheel drive vehicles have .

I've sean the e-brake cable on truck rear ends there appear to be covered w/ a spring this vehicle dosen't have this type cable.

thanks TB

So it appears there is nothing on the 10 bolt version. The one still mounted was a 2006 model. Not sure where the long bolt went but if it's too long it will bottom put before it tightens the cover and you will know.

yes that is the type RR I have I recognize the rust, do you know what brand, and size it is?thanks for posting image of RR and oe's it have a drain bolt?mine doesn't. some did, weird. think I'll clean the metal on the cover then keep a flim of WD40 on cover.

what happened was I ruined the lower center cover bolt. couple other bolts where questionable w/ rust crumbling the bolt head weird that the trans pan cover is held on w/ decent aluminum bolts.

I went to junk yard for replacement cover bolts only took 3.

the last fluid change appears to be the easiest the front diff. I'm slapping on some new front rotors and brake pads so I change front diff. then.

I’ve only changed rear end fuild maybe 5 times in my auto history however I never really looked at the bottle.

A genius added a measuring scale in 4OZ increments, give that man 2 raises. pumped in over 2 quarts added the mearsured additive into second bottle, fluid was getting low in bottle basiclley quite pumping so I'm real close to proper level.

Additionale comment my pump wouldn’t fit into the wallmart bottle had to pour the fuild into a leftover mobile 1 bottle.

So now all I have is front diff. is the front a LSD will it need the addative?

then go for a ride they say to check for leaks but I never do but my first w/ this will check.

edit:I have only replenished 6 quarts w/ my failed attempt to drop trans pan, after first ride will the intrenal dirty 5 quares dirty up my new 6 quarts?
Thanks TB

Nether the front diff or rear diff require any additive. Just a GL5 rated fluid which as the necessary additive packages.

6 quarts sounds about right with a filter change on the transmission.

I've been a memeber at gtm360 since before obtaining the 97x couple years good advice, but website won't load properly anymore.

I think that thread 2.7 quarts is excessive for rear end fluid the owners manale doesn't publish actuel rear end capacity.

it's good to know this vehicle has a stronge rear end so this is a 14 bolt since it has the 8.6 carrier?
